Continuous innovation. That’s what Nederlandse Loterij is all about. One example of such innovation? The new gaming brand Winnitt—an online gaming platform with crash games and Slingo. We spoke to online marketer Melvin Sie about his role and involvement in the new brand. Curious? Read his story here.
A year ago, Melvin was looking for a new challenge. “I had a good grasp of the digital marketing aspect. But I was looking to broaden my horizons, looking for a mix of quick decision making and the benefits of a corporate environment. I definitely found that mix at Winnitt.” He continues: “There are a lot of challenges in this role. For example, as an online marketer at Winnitt, you have to consider strict laws and regulations for online gaming. This forces us to think creatively about online marketing.”
So, what does an online marketer for Winnitt do? Melvin explains: “I do marketing on a broad level. From strategy and positioning to going live with campaigns and managing agencies. Within my job, I deal with four main stakeholders: the media agency that executes the online campaigns; the creative agency that develops the campaigns based on our positioning and strategy; the production agency that creates the resources for the campaigns; and the internal landscape of Nederlandse Loterij, where I work with many specialists who also work for other gaming brands, such as Staatsloterij. That’s one of the biggest advantages of a corporation: Nederlandse Loterij has many brands and large collaborations that we as, a startup and new brand, can benefit from.”
In addition to the benefits of collaborations, Melvin mentions other advantages. “At Nederlandse Loterij, you can find a lot of highly knowledgeable marketers to learn from and be inspired by. For example, we have a weekly ‘functional day’, where I attend workshops, give presentations and work on projects with other marketers—initiatives aimed at our development. The training budget of €2,000 per year also contributes to my development. It’s great to have the ideal mix, a corporate’s advantages and the a startup’s flexibility. Not to mention that we’re not just a corporate. We are an organisation that really loves to push, promote and ensure development and collaboration.”
What kind of gaming brand is Winnitt? “Winnitt comes from our desire to offer different types of games that are relevant to various target groups. At Nederlandse Loterij, we are constantly working on developing our gaming offer: lotteries and online gambling. So now players can also turn to Winnitt, where they can safely and responsibly take part in fun games that offer relaxation and at the same time have an element of excitement.”
The first campaign for the gaming brand is now live. “Our next steps are to optimise and map the user experience. We want to fully translates the strategy into the user experience on the platform. With the right games, a good user experience and a clear customer journey. Although there is still a lot to build, I am proud that we have gone from a business plan to a live platform.”
