“As an employer, Nederlandse Loterij has surprised me”

Andrea Verhagen
Executive Secretary

Getting a new job can be a tense move but for Andrea this decision has brought only positive experiences. Nederlandse Loterij has surprised her in various ways. The pleasant corporate culture, the professionalism during onboarding and a smooth start made her feel at home. Curious to know her thoughts when reviewing the past three months? Then read on:

By way of introduction

Andrea started as an executive secretary at Nederlandse Loterij on 1 April 2023 and was immersed in a dynamic range of duties. As she observes: “The joy of this role is its variety. From managing diaries and e-mails to booking hotel stays, organising important meetings and getting involved in various projects; my days are anything but boring.” Although she wasn’t actively looking for a new job, a friend of hers passed on the vacancy for the position of executive secretary. After taking stock of the vacancy and having chatted with employees, the culture, professionalism, core values and social interest that Nederlandse Loterij pursues were what appealed to her.

“People are open, helpful and motivated. Everyone stays true to their agreements and you're actively involved in everything. This culture makes me feel at home here.”

Nederlandse Loterij has surprised me

She has the following to say about social interest: “Some people may have a less than positive association with games of chance, but Nederlandse Loterij really surprised me in a positive way. We take our social responsibility seriously by focusing on Responsible Gaming. This means we take preventive measures to ensure that participating in gaming actually stays fun. That’s something a lot of people don’t realise.”

A professional impression right from the start

Andrea is also impressed with the organisation’s professionalism. “As soon as I arrived at the reception, I got a warm and open-hearted welcome. The wait time for the first application interview was short and the entire recruitment process was hiccup-free. And it immediately became clear during my interviews that everyone here works with a passion. But not only that, the systems and processes we work with also show that we are a well-managed organisation.”

An involved culture

Andrea goes on: “As well as accepting our social responsibility and being a professional organisation, the corporate culture also feels very good. People are open, helpful and motivated. Everyone stays true to their agreements and you’re actively involved in everything. This culture makes me feel at home here.”

A smooth start

Finally, she shares her experience of onboarding: “I was given the time I needed to acclimatise myself. I had a lot of great conversations with my colleagues thanks to which I know exactly who my points of contact are.”

Why Nederlandse Loterij?

Rounding off our conversation, Andrea says: “Let me recommend Nederlandse Loterij to anyone looking for a fun, team-oriented culture, at a data-driven organisation, surrounded by people who enjoy doing their jobs.”
